Treyarch: “Choice Events in Black Ops 2 Campaign Will Effect the Story”

Treyarch has responded to questions asked by it’s followers on Twitter. A follower asked if you can “change the storyline by the choices you make”.

Yes…One way we are doing this is through Strike Force levels, which are new to Call of Duty and introduce, non-linear/sandbox-style gameplay to the single-player storyline for the first time.

This is how they work – at several points, the head of special forces will address you and let you know that a conflict has arisen (a “proxy war,” happening parallel to the main storyline) and that you need to handle it. You’ll choose your mission and be inserted into the action. Once you’re in, you’ll be in a sandbox map and be required to achieve several objectives.

Of course, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Hit the jump for more details.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is currently due for all major platforms this November.

Black Ops 2 Will Be a Very Original Experience

If you’ve played a military shooter in recent years, chances are you’re going to see a few familiar things show up. From unnamed terrorist number 1399 trying to take over the world. to set-pieces being peppered throughout the game’s campaign.

While that might be the case, actor James C. Burns who voices Sgt. Frank Woods in Black Ops 2 thinks that the second entry in Treyarch’s tale is “going to be a very original experience.” He attributes this to Black Ops 2’s new game mechanic that allows players to choose their decisions within the game’s narrative.

In an interview with Complex, Burns was asked what players should expect from Black Ops 2.

It’s going to be a very original experience. Treyarch has gone to the edge of the universe. This is going to be one of the first interactive experiences where you get to make decisions that affect the outcome. So you could very well be playing at home, and you go and meet a friend of yours, and you are going to have two different outcomes to the game. Everything has been upgraded, from the narrative to playability of the game itself.

Now, I don’t want to rain on Burns’ parade, but I guess somebody forgot to tell him that games like Mass Effect, Heavy Rain and a host of other games have implemented this game mechanic years ago, no?

Well, in any case, this is a first for a Call of Duty game and that should amount to something, right?

Hopefully, this means that the game will have different endings and that they actually mean something. Instead of. y’know, just letting us choose between three different colors.

Patience for Black Ops 2 Zombies reveal

The GamesStop Expo promised to be such a huge event next month because GTA V was rumored to be showing up, but that rumor was later squashed. However, there’s still plenty to get excited about because we will get to see some Black Ops 2 multiplayer footage. Now while this may be great news Treyarch has been a little quiet when it comes to a zombies reveal and from what we have been hearing, fans patience has started to grow a little thin.

However, we do have to mention that those gamers waiting for more information on Black Ops 2 can feel happy in the knowledge that Treyarch has been sharing far more with their fans than Rockstar has with theirs in regards to more news on Grand Theft Auto V. An interesting article here has suggested that we could see some zombies footage during the GamesStop Expo, and even though you would not expect something so huge during this event the article does remind us that it’s big enough to show off some Black Ops 2 multiplayer footage.

Do you feel that drip-feeding new information keeps you far more interested in an upcoming title rather than a deluge of details? We do find it funny how some fans of this franchise complain about the lack of new details for Black Ops 2 when the likes of GTA 5 has had just one trailer and two screenshots from Rockstar.

Treyarch has hinted that the Zombie mode for Black Ops 2 will be the most ambitious and biggest yet thanks to improvements to the games engine, so you can expect to battle with many more zombies than you have had to cope with in the past – just hope you are up to the challenge?

In the past Zombie mode was pretty basic in form, but we’re told that it will be far more complex with Black Ops 2 as you will soon be able to perform various objectives, along with partaking in wager matches as well. Treyarch has had to come up with more imaginative ways to make zombies more interesting and tougher because the main part of the game is set in the future. You may wonder what this has to do with the Zombie mode, well you have to remember that you will have far more sophisticated and powerful weapons than in the previous game from the series.

There’s not long to wait for the release of the game, but before that we’re certain that Treyarch will treat us to some more spoilers along the way.

Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Trailer Hints, Min PC Specs And More

David Vonderhaar, creative director of Treyarch, has posted an image on Facebook hinting at a new trailer soon. As you can see from the image above, the trailer indicates to be almost 2 minutes and 36 minutes in length, which is quite meaty by CoD standards.

Vonderhaar even posted, “I have no more tears to shed.” What could it mean? Flashback to sergeant Reznov again? It would be awesome if we can see something like this but considering the game is set in the future it seems highly unlikely.

Coming back to the video, it could be a multiplayer trailer or something else but the former seems more likely. Vonderhaar also listed his favourite mode in Black Ops 2, but one of the modes is revealed yet.

“Of the ones you know about, Search with Dom in a close second. But my new favorite I can’t talk about yet,” he tweeted.
